Our Beloved Country

We live in such a diverse country where our constitution allows us so much freedom, but yet it is never enough to cut out the racially, sexual, and economic differences we find amongst ourselves on a daily basis.

its been 21 years since the first democratic elections in 1994, but still even today many people still haven’t accepted each other as fellow South Africans. Race still is a big concern in our beloved country, it makes me just remember the words of our former President Nelson who said “Never, never and never again shall it be that this beautiful land will again experience the oppression of one by another and suffer the indignity of being the skunk of the world. The Reality Behind The Sport – Retirement

Every sports athlete whether, a football player, a rugby player, a basketball player or even a cricket player will have to face the reality of going into retirement one day. Most athletes don’t see this day coming and therefore they don’t make provision for their life after retirement. Well others do, and that is mostly those athletes with good managers, who beforehand sign good deals and packages for their athletes, but others are left with some questions ringing in their minds when they reach the prime of their careers; what will happen once I retire? Where will I get an income from? While some athletes get good coaching jobs in their respective sports industries there are those who aren’t as lucky.

From the Training grounds to the Fashion weeks

Over the past few years we have seen how brilliantly sports clothing, especially footwear has been marketed to reach a new target audience. I’m pretty sure we all have one or more pairs of sneakers or sweatpants that we don’t use for doing anything sport related with, other than wearing them because they are comfortable and I guess fashionable at times. Brands like Nike, Adidas and Jordan have been among the top brands to contribute to this hype society with classy, elegant, fashionable and also custom made sportswear for athletes.

Endorsement a great way of Advertising and building Brand Awareness

It is n doubt that we now live in a time where the internet has taken over, basically our whole lives, whether the purpose is social media, conducting research or making online purchases. In my opinion, I believe that nowadays we as human beings also live in a time that we have become more health conscious, by reducing our carbon footprint, eating healthy and active participation in sport. That is why I think that many brands should maybe consider adjusting their advertising strategies to create a more interpersonal relationship between the brand and the consumer. To be honest, I think endorsements are the way to go.

My Weekly Poll

As South Africans we are very passionate about our sports, especially our men’s national teams i.e The Football team “Bafana Bafana”, The Cricket team “The Proteas” and The Rugby team “Springboks”. Every week I will have a poll question titled My Weekly Poll about sport topics or marketing related topics.

We are known as the Rainbow Nation, Celebrating 20 years of democracy in South Africa since 1994. We have achieved a lot in this short time as a country, From winning the 1995 Rugby World Cup in South Africa, Winning the Africa Cup of Nations in 1996 and our Cricket Team being number 1 in the world in test cricket recently. What I would like to know is what has been you best national team for last 20 years.
